MILESTONE Opt 2: Expansion of High-Performance Cluster
- Titles of the agreements and agreement numbers.
- A High-Performance Software Framework and Interoperable Applications for the Rapid Advancement of Earth System Science. Part II: Modeling Applications for the Earth System Modeling Framework (Cooperative Agreement NCC5-625, hereafter referred to as Part II )
- Description of the hardware installed including specific machine configuration and list of components and all supporting software.
- This is described at the cluster web site. The web site includes details of specific hardware components, OS revisions and of the compilers and queue software that have been deployed.
- Evidence that the system has been installed and is operating correctly.
- The web site documentation includes information on getting accounts on the system and on running the JMC Code L on the system to validate correct operation. The cluster was used for the already passed JMC code migration to cluster milestone, milestone F.

Opt2 1. Between sixty-four and one hundred and twenty-eight processor cluster installed for use with ESMF codes at MIT. Cluster nodes to use P4, 1.5GHz (or higher) with 256 or 512MB of RDRAM (800MHz or 1066MHz) or DDRSDRAM 266MHz) per node. High-speed, parallel application interconnect, to use Myrinet (PC164B or PC164C). Commodity network, using switched 10/100 Ethernet, will be used for general-purpose traffic. The cluster facility at MIT has been extended to thirty-two Pentium 4, 2.26GHz, 512MB RDRAM and thirty-two Pentium 4, 2.4GHz, nodes all interconnected with Myrinet PCI64B hardware. Details of the facility hardware and information on getting access and on using the system can be found here. The cluster web site includes documentation and instruction on how to run ESMF JMC code L on the cluster and how to link in the ESMF libraries that are installed their.
